What Are Cosmetic/Dermal Fillers?
Cosmetic or dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. As we age, we lose subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin). The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin, therefore smile lines and crow’s feet become more apparent. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle. Superficial facial lines can be diminished or improved with a procedure known as the Vampire Facial.
How Does It Work?
Cosmetic fillers are injected underneath the skin to add volume, fill in deep wrinkles, or recessed scars.
What Are The Benefits?
- Plump, natural looking lips (see Lip Augmentation).
- Enhance shallow contours (cheeks or underneath the eyes).
- Soften facial creases, such as smile lines, and wrinkles.
- Improve the appearance of recessed scars.
When Are Results Noticeable?
Results are visible immediately. Swelling and possible bruising resolve within about 1 week.
How Long Do The Results Last?
Results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on what type of filler is appropriate for the area being treated. For example, Juvèderm® Ultra XC is the only filler proven to last up to 1 year* in the lips.
Is The Procedure Painful?
Many fillers available contain a local anesthetic (lidocaine) therefore minimal to no discomfort is experienced during the procedure. A topical anesthetic can also be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
How Much Does The Procedure Cost?
Cost depends on a number of factors such as the number of areas being treated, the volume required to achieve desired results, and the type of filler that is appropriate. Your NuReveal clinician will recommend the appropriate volume of filler required to achieve the desired results.
